Good morning. This is the first post for Green Blotter, so I guess I’ll start with the standard disclaimers:

This is my personal blog. I am a recent law school graduate. I am not yet an attorney. Although this blog will often deal with legal subjects, nothing in this blog should be considered legal advice, nor is this blog intended as an advertisement for professional services that (as of today) I am not yet authorized by our fair state to provide.

Comments are open but I demand civility.

This blog was created with an eye toward informing the public about pollution problems in the Houston-Galveston-Brazoria area, particularly in Galveston County. I will be blogging about environmental rulemaking, compliance, and enforcement. It is intended as a resource for activists, and as a means to force me to “study up” on the latest environmental laws.

Although the blog’s name is an allusion to the “blotter” used to record criminal arrests, I will generally be discussing civil penalties on this site, although from time to time their may be criminal issues discussed on this blog. Although I believe pollution to be immoral, and it is often illegal, I do not intend to slander any local businesses as “criminals” unless they are, in fact, suspected of criminal violations of local, state, and federal law.  

The opinions here are my own. I’m not being paid to blog.

I’ll let you know when any of the circumstances stated above change.
